Peripherals

The word Peripheral means a device which you add to your computer, usually attaching it with a cable. More and more these days, however, wireless alternatives are coming available--but they are still peripherals. In English, the word "peripheral" means "on the outside," or "around the edge."

There are three main categories of peripherals which we will look at: Output devices, including Monitors and Printers; Input devices, which include keyboards, mice, trackpads, cameras, and microphones; and External data storage, which includes HDDs and removable-media drives.

Monitors are also known as "Displays" and "Screens." For printing, we use Inkjet and Laser printers.
